DAB's Clocks is a collection of hand made, one of a kind devices that each display time in unconventional and interesting ways. For many of these clocks I have been fortunate to work collaboratively with several creative and skilled individuals. I'll typically build a mock up to confirm feasibility and essential design features and then create a simple rendering. These renderings become the basis for the fabrication.
Battery powered with min-quartz clock mechanism
Challenges include:
1. Attaching disc to the hour post of the clock movement
2. Placing time markings on disc clock face
3. Making it easy to replace battery without disturbing clock between clock movement and disc.
12 white arrows (one large and 11 smaller), placed at 30 degree intervals around the cylinder, would tell the time. 11 of the arrows would be associated with correction factors, like time zone adjustments.
