Thanks to Same Feller at Awkward Enigneer (https://www.awkwardengineer.com/products/model-awk-105-analog-voltmeter-clock) for developing a cool voltmeter clock powered by a single AA battery. I removed the electronic "guts" and in collaboration with John Parkinson designed and built (John did that part) a clock case using red oak (tight parallel grain) and Wenge (from the tree Millettia laurentii) veneer.
